If you are a patient or caregiver who is interested in genetic testing, we can help you locate a healthcare professional who can facilitate testing on the find a provider page.

Only genetic testing can confirm if your patient has an IRD

Spark Therapeutics is committed to supporting patients with inherited retinal diseases (IRDs) by expanding access to genetic testing.

The ID YOUR IRD® initiativea provides gene testing for patients whom you suspect may be living with an IRD. The ID YOUR IRD panel tests for mutations in approximately 300b genes that are associated with IRDs. The test results provide genetic information that may empower you and your patients to make more informed decisions and tailor your disease management plans.

What type of patients are appropriate for the ID YOUR IRD gene testing initiative?

  • Patients suspected of having an IRD (eg, retinitis pigmentosa, Leber congenital amaurosis, Stargardt disease, etc.)
  • Patients who have experienced one or more of the following: nyctalopia, peripheral field loss, central vision loss, deterioration of color vision, photophobia, or any of these symptoms with syndromic findings

Please note: ID YOUR IRD does not currently test for genes related to age-related macular degeneration.

aThis initiative is open to US residents only, subject to the Terms and Conditions of the program.
